13th to 20th February, 2011 Another fun packed event is planned for the 35th Holetown Festival. The history of the festival stems from 1627, when 80 English Settlers landed between the 17th & 20th of February at Holetown. With them were 10 African Slaves, who were captured on the voyage. From this day Barbados became a British Colony. The first festival created by Alfred Pragnell was held over a weekend in 1977 to celebrate the Anniversary of the First Settlement of Barbados. It's now so popular it runs from Sunday to Sunday. The schedule includes; 4pm - Opening Celebrations at the Holetown Monument . 5.30pm - Ceremony of Beating Retreat 6.30pm to Midnight - Pan Fest featuring The Olakunde Steel Orchestra, the Reddy Panners and Haringey Young Musicians from England. 10am - Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk 10.30am - Opening of Exhibition "Heritage Sites", Holetown Library (open all week). 6pm to Midnight, - Holetown Liming Tent, Karaoke & prizes (open all week) 7.30pm - Pricesmart Night at the Seaside Theatre - Free Concert 9.30am & 12pm - Bus Tour of Historic Holetown with Morris Greenidge 12.30pm - Lunchtime Concert at Surfside Restaurant. 7.30pm - Gospel favorites at the Seaside Theatre - Free Concert 10am - Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk. 7.30pm - Surfside Restauarant Night at the Seaside Theatre - Free Concert 10am - Bus Tour of Historic Holetown with Morris Greenidge 12.30pm - Lunchtime Concert at Surfside Restaurant. 7.30pm - RBC Royal Bank Night at Seaside Theatre - Free Concert 10am - Alfred Pragnell Memorial Talk. 8pm - Cheffette Night - Grand Floodlit Tattoo & March at Trents Playing Field. All Day - 35th Annual Street Fair, Bajan Arts & Crafts, Caribbean food 11am - Street Parade, Vintage & Classic Cars, Queen of The Festival, Stilt Walkers, Dancin’ Africa & more... 12 noon - Food for the Body & Soul at Holetown Methodist Church 1.30pm - Radio controlled auto racers display 2pm - Holetown Dooflicky with Folk Parade & Bajan Carnival. 3pm - Concert at the Chattel Stage 6pm - Banks/Coca Cola Sunset Concert at Seaside Theatre. 8pm - DJ Face Off with Verseewild and other popular DJ's. 9am - Thanksgiving Service at Holetown Methodist Church 10am - Street Fair Stalls re-open 3.30pm - Michael Parravicino Memorial 7K Walk - Speightstown to Holetown. 4.15pm - Festival 7K Road Run 6pm - Gala Concert, "Classical Steel" at St. James Parish Church. 6.30pm - Spiritual Baptists Candlelight Procession at Seaside Theatre. 7.30pm - Grand Finale - Queen of the Festival Pageant at St. James School.
